Sausage and Shrimp Gumbo
A Gumbo is usually made with flavored meat, seafood, and vegetables. So go ahead and try this classic southern Louisiana soup, the perfect soupy partner.
|1||pc||medium onion, chopped|
|5||pc||PUREFOODS STAR HOTDOGS REGULAR, sliced|
|1/2||kg||okra, trimmed and sliced|
|2||pc||large bananas (lakatan), sliced|
|1/4||kg||shrimps, cleaned, peeled and deveined (sliced into 2)|
|2||tbsp||lemon or calamansi juice|
|iodized fine salt and cayenne pepper to taste|
1. Heat oil in a saucepan and sauté onion and garlic over low heat. Add hotdogs and mix well. Add okra and cook over low heat for 2 minutes. Add tomatoes and bananas and mix thoroughly. Simmer over moderately low heat for 5 minutes.
2. Add shrimps and lemon juice then season with salt and cayenne pepper. Add water and let simmer until shrimps are pink and firm, about 10 minutes.
You may serve this as topping on steamed rice.
Makes 4 to 5 servings.
