News: Special Treats for Baking and Cooking Enthusiasts

Baking and cooking enthusiasts got special treats from San Miguel Pure Foods Culinary Center via its kitchen-on-wheels event ‘Mobile Kusina’ and a Valentine’s cooking class. At the culinary center, experts demonstrated the preparation of special recipes to melt the hearts of participants’ loved ones while Mobile Kusina traveled to Cabanatuan and showed followers how to prepare festive dishes in time for the fiesta.

Both culinary events were initiatives of San Miguel Pure Foods Culinary Center to give consumers healthier and more creative ways in which to use their wide array of products.

Participants took part in the baking demonstration Sweets for My Sweet cooking class in Pasig. Chefs Rene Ruz and Anthony Cuntapay taught the class how to make sinfully delicious miniature cakes like Choco Lava Cake, Mini Mango Torte, Spiced Up Mango Cream Cake and Choco Espresso Cake.

As a bonus, participants were also taught how to make Valentine Cookie, Cookie ala Biscotti, Corn and Apple-Cinnamon Muffins using cookie and muffin premixes. Demonstrations were conducted by bakery specialist services, Berlito Isip and Nathaniel Carpio of San Miguel Mills.

Those eyeing to start a business selling baked products were all ears at the lecture on premix line, handling, shelf life and profiting from premix conducted by Mai Bernardo, market development manager of San Miguel Mills.

In Cabanatuan City, Mobile Kusina coincided with the celebration of Araw ng Cabanatuan at the NE Pacific Mall Atrium.

Magnolia Inc., Purefoods Hormel and the City Government of Cabanatuan, joined hands to bring avid followers of the popular cooking show, a demonstration of four festive recipes by Chef Rene Ruz.

Around 200 participants got a first hand look at how Stuffed Finger Chili Fries with Quick Salsa Dip can be easily prepared using Purefoods Chinese Style Luncheon Meat, Magnolia Cheezee, Magnolia Nutri-Oil (Palm Olein), and Purefoods Supremo Cane Vinegar.

They also had a sampling of Bulalo Steak prepared with Monterey Bulalo Steak (Beef Shank slices), Magnolia Nutri-Oil, and Magnolia Buttercup; Star Bagoong Fried Rice using Star Garlic Margarine, and Purefoods Pork Tocino; Espressomisu prepared with Magnolia Fresh Milk, Magnolia Cream Cheese, San Mig Coffee Strong, and Magnolia Gold Butter.

Both the baking demonstration at the San Miguel Purefoods Culinary Center and the cooking demonstration with Mobile Kusina were sponsored by Monterey, San Mig Coffee, E-aji, Magnolia and Purefoods Hormel in cooperation with Sunnex cookware, GLAD wraps, Ariston and GE Appliances.

Meanwhile, baking enthusiasts have a chance to learn new recipes in the forthcoming classes at the San Miguel Purefoods Culinary Center at Legaspi coner Eagle streets, Bo. Ugong, pasig City. The schedule is as follows: Bread Bites: Bread and Doughnut Ideas, March 23; Stovetop Creations, April 27; No Bake Desserts and Oven Toaster Treats, May 11. Those who attend three consecutive baking demo classes can attend a fourth class at the center for free.
