News: Exciting and Profitable Culinary Adventures
Excitement reigns supreme at the San Miguel Pure Foods Culinary Center (SMPFCC). Avid homemakers, cooking and food enthusiasts take on new opportunities not only to broaden their culinary repertoire with new recipes and great food ideas but also, make a profitable business out of their newly acquired skills.
San Miguel Pure Foods My Great Food Club in partnership with Monterey and Magnolia Chicken Station held the first of Business Opportunities Series (BOS) that introduced easy-to-prepare marinades and sizzlers along with valuable tips to help start a food business. Attendees also learned the basic framework for business through the San Miguel Pure Foods’ On Premise Selling (OPS) Food Carts. Chef Maricel Manalo, Culinary Services Manager, conducted the cooking demo and assisted by Chef Kai Verdadero, SMPFCC Product Applications Specialist Lamb in Coffee Marinade Monterey Pork Steaks in Jerk Rub Magnolia Chicken Station Chicken Sate Magnolia Chicken Station Chicken Inasal Baking enthusiasts had the rare chance to learn new recipes for Baking Made Easier Series that kicked off with "Sweets for my Sweet, just in time for Valentine's Day. Then came "Bread Bites: Bread & Doughnut Ideas" for kids and adults held during the summer and for Mother's Day, "Cupcakes, Fritters & No Bake Desserts” had moms and kids spend time together while learning how to bake from scratch like cupcakes topped with lemon butter, vanilla frosting, cookies and cream or cream cheese frosting made yummier with Magnolia Gold Butter. They also learned a novel recipe: beer battered banana and apple fritters, churros, crepes and blintzes with various fillings. KKC attendees made a comeback during this event, to learn how to make siopao, a favorite of their mom with San Miguel Mills Inc. Bakery Services Specialist Nathaniel Carpio       Japanese food lovers and cooking enthusiasts in turn had a blast making Nori and teki maki sushi under the supervision of Chef Tammy Takagi at the Japanese Cooking Made Easier Series II. Participants try making Te-Maki Sushi with guest demonstrator Ms. Tammy Takagi during the recently conducted Japanese Class, one of the Cuisine Classes at SMPFCC.
